چکیده

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth and fourth common cancer in worldwide Egypt. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) standard treatment for unresectable HCC. Recent studies showed that TACE refractoriness impairs survival of HCC patients. Various strategies under investigation aim to improve outcome TACE, Aspirin demonstrated chemopreventive, antithrombotic anti-inflammatory properties Moreover, it has been reported aspirin may reverse apoptosis resistance cell lines. This study includes 60 patients diagnosed as indicted randomized two arms; control arm arm. All have vascular cellular compensated liver functions; platelets count ≥ 100,000, normal prothrombin time. We excluded with bleeding tendency, gastrointestinal ulcers, portal hypertension, allergy or contraindication aspirin. received 75 mg daily after meal 3 months; we assessed feasibility, toxicity aspirin, studied response disease progression. In this there was no significant difference between arms regarding baseline patients’ characteristics. Regarding compliance 70% were regular; 60% compliant versus 56.7% Most side effects are grade 1 effect. According modified RECIST criteria, better responses achieved arm; 10% had complete remission 6.7 %in 30% partial 23% arm, progression 40% however, didn’t reach statistical level (p=0.806). 20% developed vein thrombosis only 6.7% There an improvement free (PFS); median PFS not reached 11 months Control (P=0.035). The use adjuvant feasible be associated longer a tendency responses; larger sample size yield stronger results.

Transarterial injection of (131)I-lipiodol, compared with chemoembolization, in the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular cancer.

UNLABELLED Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) improves survival in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in whom curative therapies are not suitable. The aim of this study was to assess survival differences in patients with hepatic cirrhosis and unresectable HCC treated by (131)I-lipiodol versus TACE or transarterial embolization (TAE). METHODS A retrospective study was performed o...

Transarterial chemoembolization in combination with percutaneous ablation therapy in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma: a meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND Recent evidence suggests that transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or a percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) may have a synergistic effect in treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The aim of the current meta-analysis was to identify the survival benefits of TACE combined with percutaneous ablation (PA) therapy (RFA or PEI) for...
